On Friday 4th November, the local community gathered at the Holt Lodge Hotel to watch a bonfire and firework display and generously raised over £700 for the Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity that provides expert treatment and support to young people aged 13 to 24 who are diagnosed with cancer.
Hundreds of people from the local community and Wrexham area enjoyed a delicious hog roast and barbecue whilst being treated to a great firework display. Commenting on the event, Sarah Tunstall, Sales & Marketing Manager at the Holt Lodge, said:
“Everyone at the Holt Lodge Hotel is always keen to get involved in events that bring our local community together. We thought hosting a bonfire with a firework display would be a nice way to do just that and we were thrilled so many people came out on a cold evening to support us and the Teenage Cancer Trust! Residents and businesses in and around Holt were extremely generous, with many delivering firewood and helping to man stalls. Enid Waterfall is a local Holt resident who is working tirelessly to raise much needed funds in the fight against cancer and we felt this was a good opportunity to support her in her efforts. We were delighted that over £700 was raised on the night! The atmosphere was fantastic and given this was the first event of its kind to be held at the hotel, we were pleased to hear everyone had a great time.”
The evening was a great success and fun was had by one and all. Commenting on the impressive sum raised, Enid thanked the local community, Holt Lodge Hotel and everyone involved in organising the event. She said:
“Many thanks to all who donated or came to support a spectacular bonfire evening at the Holt Lodge in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust. Over £700, an incredible sum, was raised on the night and donations are still coming in! Seven young people between the ages of 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day. The Teenage Cancer Trust provides special wards for them, the closest to us being Clatterbridge and Alder Hey. This money will go towards making their long treatment more bearable. The Trust also gives much needed support to their families. Grateful thanks must go to the Hotel Lodge Hotel, its staff and Jane Crossley, a Holt resident, who all started the ball rolling. Please look out for future events that will be held in support of this valuable Trust.”
